Kawau Island – Explore Day Tour – 3 November
Our first spring day tour exploring the beautiful bays and coves of historic Kawau Island by paddle board. Cruise on crystal-clear waters and take in a slice of Maori and Pakeha history.
Our exact route on the day will be influenced by weather and any wind. However, we’re planning to paddle the sheltered eastern bays and coves including the Historic Reserve and Mansion House.
Sunday 3rd Novemeber, 9:45am – 5pm, $160 (including ferry fare for you and your board).
Puhoi River – Explore Tour – 17 November
Enjoy gliding peacefully along the Puhoi River from scenic Wenderholm to historic Puhoi. This 8km flat water and tidal paddle which is easy and enjoyable for people with some paddling experience. Once we reach the historic settlement of Puhoi we’ll all have earned a seat and refreshment at the famous Puhoi Pub.
Sunday 17 November 9am-11:30pm, $40 with your own board or use your SUPWell Class Pass.
Previous Explore Tours
Whitford Creek – Explore Tour – 20 October 2019
Paddle from Eastern Beach or Howick Beach to Whitford. Your choice of starting point to suit fitness and paddling experience.
We’ll pass through a diverse landscape of farmland, native forest, and unique estuary and salt marsh habitat including Mangemangeroa Reserve, one of Auckland’s hidden gems. As the creek narrows and narrows we end our tour among the mangroves at the Lime Tree Cafe for a bite of lunch.

Matakana River – Explore Tour – 15 December
From historic Matakana our route will take us down the tidal river into the estuary at Sandspit. We pass this little seaside settlement with it’s old style kiwi baches and enter Kawau Bay, finishing our ‘river to ocean’ paddle at Snells Beach. This is a beautiful paddle starting with the narrow, meandering Matakana River and opening out into Kawau Bay and views to Kawau Island.
Sunday 15 December 9:30am-12nooon, $40 with your own board or use your SUPWell Class Pass.
About Classes
In Auckland’s Eastern Bays class locations include Okahu Bay, Orakei Basin, St Heliers and Kohimarama. On the North Shore classes take place at Takapuna, Lake Pupuke, Castor Bay and Mairangi Bay. Our class vary from 4-12 people so are small and friendly. Quality Starboard equipment and experienced coaches can be part of the package if you don’t own a board, so all you need to do is turn up.
